Sara Copare set four school records her senior year of high school.

Always a part of something Big

Oct. 31, 2007

La Salle University Women's Soccer currently has 12 members of its roster - just under half - currently with sophomore eligibility. Sara Copare, who has netted one goal and has four assists, is one of them, but she is used to numbers like that.

She is the sixth of eight children in her family and had a lot of fun growing up because of the sibling rivalries. All of her five brothers and one of her sisters all played soccer so they always competed against each other and tried to break each others records.

A recent sit-down with her revealed among other things some of her record breaking numbers, her first celebrity crush, and what was her favorite Halloween costume.

Why did you choose to attend to La Salle?

For the soccer program. I really liked the team and the coaching staff, but it was definitely because of soccer.

What was your greatest memory of your soccer career so far?

My senior year of high school (at Arthur P. Schalick). I broke four school records (single season goals - 38; and assists - 19; and career goals - 81; and assists 43) and was named an All-American.

What do you do to prepare for a game?

I make sure I eat well and hydrate. I get a lot of rest and (as we warm-up) we try to beat the juggling record.

Who is your biggest inspiration/role model?

My parents - they have always believed in me and just want me to pursue whatever it is I want to do. They stick by me through anything.

What is the best and worst thing about being a student-athlete?

The best is just all the friends that you meet on the team and the worst is fitting in school work with playing soccer. I would rather just be playing soccer - so I guess having to time manage.

What was your favorite Halloween costume?

When I was in fifth grade, I really like the Wizard of Oz, so I went as Dorothy.
