Dec. 7, 2007
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University women's lacrosse team has announced its 2008 schedule. Head Coach Julie Weiss has the Blue and Gold facing off against top-quality opponents, starting with Colgate on February 24th.
The Explorers' non-conference slate includes home contests against in-state opponents Lehigh, Drexel, Bucknell and Lafayette. Louisville, who will compete in their inaugural Division-I season, will visit McCarthy Stadium on March 9th. The Explorers will travel to Colgate, Monmouth, Columbia and Villanova to round out the non-conference schedule.
La Salle opens Atlantic 10 play with back-to-back games versus the conference's top two teams in 2007. They will travel to the nation's capital to take on A-10 runner-up George Washington on March 28th, before hosting defending conference champion Richmond two days later. The Spiders earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament last season.
The schedule won't get any easier, as 2007 A-10 Championship qualifier and city-rival Temple visits McCarthy Stadium the following Friday. The remainder of the schedule includes road games at Big 5 foe Saint Joseph's, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure and a home contest versus Massachusetts.
The 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship will take place April 25-27th and will be held at McGuirk Stadium on the campus of the University of Massachusetts.
