Kevin Lydic Nets `Athlete of the Week' Award

Nov. 12, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle men's soccer standout Kevin Lydic (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) turned some heads this weekend as has been selected as La Salle's `Athlete of the Week' for the week ending on November 12th.  The Philadelphia soccer coaches also took notice as Lydic earned Philadelphia Soccer Seven 'Co-Player of the Week' honor.

Lydic had a breakout weekend for the Explorers in the last two games of the 2007 season.  On Friday night the junior forward had the game-winner in a 2-0 shutout of A-10 rival Richmond, and then scored the Explorer's only goal in a 2-1 loss at George Washington.

He ended the season tied for most goals on the squad (5) and added one assist.  Before this past weekend, Lydic's most recent goal came over a month ago, on September 29th vs. Rider.  He also finished the season with the second-most points (11) on the team.

The Explorers completed the 2007 season with a 6-11-1, 4-5 A-10 record, good enough for eighth place in the A-10.  La Salle finished in conference as the highest-ranking Philadelphia school, with Saint Joseph's at the nine spot and Temple in 13th.  The blue and gold lost only one game at home, going 4-1 overall at McCarthy Stadium.

Coach Pat Farrell and the team will have their annual soccer banquet on Sunday, December 9th at 10 AM on the La Salle University main campus in the Dunleavey Room at 10 AM.  Check GoExplorers.com for the most updated men's soccer announcements.
